The natural area called "Het
Dubbroek" is an old cut off meander of the river Meuse. It is managed
by the institution "Het
Limburgs Landschap", that pursuits the preservation of the natural and
cultural heritage of the region.
Currently it is a wet area, a carr, with mixed forests and grassy fields in the
higher areas. After recent extensions the total area is about 500
acres.
